The Zone

Alejandro is a teenager who lives in a gated, self-sufficient residential community with heavy private security. His family, along with the other residents, driven by rising crime, fear of violence, and a lack of law enforcement, have chosen this place as their last refuge of peace. One early morning, three intruders manage to break into the community to rob a house. During the attack, an elderly woman is killed, but two of the thieves are shot dead by the private security guards. The third thief escapes and remains at large within the community. After a heated discussion, and aware of the prevailing corruption and inefficiency, most of the residents decide to take justice into their own hands. In the basement of his house, young Alejandro unexpectedly encounters the thief, Miguel, a young man his own age who, frightened, confesses his crime and begs for help. As the search continues, opinions among the residents of the community begin to diverge. After much hesitation, Alejandro decides to help Miguel. However, the growing tension and fear among the residents of the Zone, coupled with pressure from the police from outside, will hinder his plans. Amidst all these events, Alejandro will be forced to grow up and find his own worldview.
