The Match

Alfonso (Carlos Blanco) is a man in his forties, working in a mechanical supplies factory and a huge soccer fan. He's married, and like his coworkers, his financial situation is quite precarious. The problems begin when his company is acquired by an American industrial group. The new board of directors imposes modern work methods and philosophies that clash sharply with the workers' down-to-earth nature. Tension starts to rise when some layoffs take place. Furthermore, personal conflicts arise between Alfonso and Borja, one of the managers. Borja sees the group of workers as undisciplined and trying to humiliate him. To try and calm things down, they agree to hold a "team-building match" in true American style. But American customs aren't like Spanish ones, and soccer isn't like baseball…
